Why I Haven't Been Blogging Recently

Hello again,

I apologised quickly earlier about not blogging so much recently - I honestly am really sorry - and decided that for my actual post today I would explain to you why it has been like this. No quotes today as it's the weekend and I'm only "quoting" in the week, just a bit of an explanation.

Last Weekend's Show
Last weekend I was at dog show with my friend's dogs, Elsie and Cashmere - it wasn't a massive one but it was a whole weekend long so I was there Friday evening to Sunday late afternoon. It was held at a golf club about four hours up north in Yorkshire. There were so many dogs - over 500 - and plenty of different breeds. I love going to shows in different areas other than the south east of England as I get to meet new like minded people and their lovely dogs. There were only about fifty or so Great Danes.

It was a very early start for us - I was woken up at 5am for breakfast and we were at the venue for 6.45am - as Cashmere had her Junior Bitch class at 8am. It was a class of eight so only took half an hour to judge. We had to perform a triangle and up and down, followed by a stand, and had to move around the ring with the other dogs. The judge had a bit of a hard time choosing which dog should place where, but after a long decision and lots of judging the awards were presented and we proudly came reserve! Elsie was in the Veteran Bitch class at 8.45am - she was very naughty and acted more like a puppy than a seven year old! She kept pulling at and chewing her show lead, getting in my way and slipping her lead - which everyone found hilarious, Despite her constant mischief, we did very well and ended up winning. Elsie was in the Veteran Bitch class at 10.45am - she was very naughty and acted more like a puppy than a seven year old! She kept pulling at and chewing her show lead, getting in my way and slipping her lead - which everyone found hilarious, Despite her constant mischief, we did very well and ended up winning the class and going onto Best Bitch where we earned another 1st, and then a Reserve Best Of Breed - I was so proud of her! We spent the rest of Saturday looking around the show and shopping.

On Sunday I was entered into the Junior Handling Over 12's with a gorgeous Miniature Schnauzer called Salty who is owned by my cousin. The class was massive - over thirty dogs - and took over an hour and a half to judge! We made the shortlist but then the judge told me to do a T-shape - which went well until he stepped to the side. It was my fault as I should've been watching him at all times so had to move quickly so I wouldn't come between Salty and him - which looked really messy. We came out with a sixth because of that, but I was just pleased to be in the shortlist anyway!

Last Week
I haven't been blogging this week as there's been a few issues with my young horse, Pixie. She was been a bit lame on and off recently so that was looked into, but no one knows what's going on with her leg so she had to go to an equine hospital for further investigation. I've been very busy with school so doing homework, choosing GCSEs and caring for her aswell as riding my other two horses and going to ringcraft training has taken up all of my time. THE GOOD NEWS IS that Pixie is now getting better so I have more time than I did earlier this week, but I'm still quite busy. We found out that she had a tendon problem which resulted in her going lame on and off - she's now on box rest until April but she's fine and so I'm pleased with that!

Anyway, that is all I will say for now and I'll try to get some pictures up soon! They will be added in the photo gallery section.

Thanks for reading!!

A Quick Apology

I still have so much to update you on so will get that done over the next week - hopefully!

Sorry again!

Quote Number 3

Here is my third quote! I've been trying so hard to keep this blog a daily thing but I'm getting so much homework at the moment, and I'm choosing my GCSE options at the moment - I'm hopefully doing PE, Sociology, Art and Polish (another random fact about me - I'm a quarter Polish!).

"The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants"

By Johnny Depp.

I'm always saying how dogs are twice as good as humans - they've got such good unconditional love, none are bad at all. I hate how Staffies, Rottweilers and all the "bred to fight" dogs have a reputation for being aggressive, when they're actually great breeds!

Sorry for the short post - I'm doing my French homework right now - and I'll try to get a bigger one up soon. I'm at a dog show this weekend so will have something to say about that! Also, I've decided that quotes will be on weekdays only - weekends deserve more than a simple quote!

Thanks for reading!

Quote Number 2

Hello again,

Want to say thank you to all readers - I really appreciate every reader reading this blog!

Quote number two today...

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealously or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace."

This lovely quote is my Milan Kundera. I really like it - it really does explain that doing nothing and just spending time with your dog is peaceful and not at all boring. As fun as showing, training and playing with your dog is, just spending time with them and loving them are all you need. Sitting with them isn't boring - all time spent with dogs is fun, and should be appreciated! Honestly, the amount of people I see looking bored at dog shows that I go to - dogs aren't boring! And how many people say that handling and showing (and obedience, may I add) are boring compared to agility and heelwork to music? Just being with your dog is lovely; a great way to enjoy life. Dogs ARE our link to paradise.

Thank you for reading!

PS - I will try to get some pics of the dogs I show - promise!

Quote Number 1

Hi to everyone who's reading this! (And please remember to tell others about my blog! I'll really appreciate it!)

I decided not to post a quote yesterday as I wanted to do an introduction first, but I am going to give you one today. That quote is...

"There is no such thing as a naughty dog, only an untrained one!"

I heard this one only recently at a dog show - I don't remember who told me about it, but it sticked in my head.

It is true - dogs are mischievous little (and large in my case!) creatures who love to cause trouble wherever they may wander. However, the amount of people who say that their dogs are naughty for not coming when called - that isn't a naughty dog, it's an untrained one!

Thank you for reading!!

Kelseigh :)

PS - all of the quotes won't be boring like this - I promise I will try to fancy them up on an editing programme! However I don't have an editing programme as I speak, so this one obviously isn't all fancy.

Post Number One

Hi all,

I am a new blogger and this is my first blog! Exciting!

I set up this blog as a project and also as a hobby. I love to write and I love quotes - and I also love dogs - so it seemed perfect for me to start up a blog featuring doggy quotes!

A bit about myself. I am fourteen years old (I turned fourteen on 9th January 2015) and I live in Surrey, England. I love dogs but don't own one, however I have the joy of handling two Great Danes at various dog shows across the country as my mum's friend owns them. I love Great Danes, they are my favourite dog breed ever and I have been showing them for seven years now. When I started out handling the breed when I struggled as they were about the same size as me - but now I am older and taller and have much more control over them!

I also love horses and hope to be an Olympic eventer one day - I have been riding since I was four and have owned five horses in my lifetime.

So please continue to read the blog - I promise it won't be all quotes and you'll find out a little bit more about me as time goes by - and I hope you enjoy it!
